Comprehensive Psychological Assessment: Out-of-Pocket Cost Guide

At our practice, we believe in financial transparency. Navigating clinical care shouldn't come with hidden surprises. We utilize a Flat-Fee Pricing Model for our comprehensive evaluations, meaning the price you are quoted during the intake process is exactly what you will pay.

A flat fee ensures that all clinical hours—including direct testing, review of records, standardized scoring, rigorous data interpretation, comprehensive report writing, and your formal feedback session—are completely covered.

2. The Clinical Hourly Rate Chart & Time Breakdown

To understand how your flat fee is calculated, we break down our specialized clinical work using a base rate of $250 per hour following a fixed $300 Intake Interview.

While a flat fee protects you from paying more if scoring or report writing takes longer than expected, the underlying clinical hours generally break down as follows:

3. Good Faith Estimate (GFE) & The "Extreme Circumstances" Clause

Your Rights Under the No Surprises Act

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services.

The Flat-Fee Guarantee

The flat costs outlined above represent the maximum expected clinical cost for standard, thorough diagnostic evaluations. Your flat fee will not fluctuate based on a clinician needing an extra hour to score a test or write a section of the report.

Exceptions to the Flat Fee (Extreme Circumstances)

In highly exceptional or extreme circumstances, costs may deviate from the initial flat-fee agreement. If an adjustment is required, no additional work will be performed, and no fees will be charged without your explicit, written consent. Examples of extreme circumstances include:

  1. Unforeseen Multi-Day Crisis / De-escalation: If a testing session must be abruptly terminated due to severe acute medical/behavioral safety crises requiring extensive clinical intervention or emergency management.

  2. Substantial Discovery of Complex Trauma/Dissociation: If testing reveals a profound, unstated history of severe trauma requiring the immediate halt of testing and an expansion into an extensive, separate diagnostic clinical evaluation.

  3. Legal/Subpoena Involvement: If the evaluation unexpectedly becomes entangled in an active, contested custody battle or legal proceeding, any required legal preparation, document review, deposition, or expert testimony will be billed outside the flat fee at our standard legal rate of $350/hr.

4. Services Outside My Scope of Practice

To maintain a dedicated focus on clinical treatment, therapeutic success, and educational advocacy, there are certain specialized evaluations that fall outside the scope of my practice. I do not provide the following services under any circumstances:

  • Child Custody or Visitation Evaluations: I do not conduct assessments for the purpose of determining child custody, parenting time, or legal visitation schedules.

  • Forensic or Legal Evaluations: I do not provide evaluations intended for use in active criminal, civil, or personal injury lawsuits, nor do I provide court-ordered diagnostic testing.

  • Service Animal or Emotional Support Animal (ESA) Documentation: I do not conduct evaluations or issue official documentation/letters for service animals or emotional support animals.

If your primary goal involves legal proceedings or securing official animal accommodations, I recommend seeking out a forensic psychologist or a specialist who dedicates their practice specifically to those legal frameworks.

5. Medicaid / AHCCCS Sliding Scale Exception

While our practice is primarily an out-of-pocket provider for commercial insurances, we are dedicated to community accessibility.

We maintain a strictly limited number of slots for families currently enrolled in Medicaid (AHCCCS in Arizona) who require urgent diagnostic clarity. These cases are evaluated on an individual basis and are offered on a sliding fee scale to ensure financial hardship does not act as a barrier to critical support. Please inquire during your 15-minute discovery call regarding current sliding-scale availability.
